Postgame Quotes (UNLV)Postgame Quotes (UNLV)

The football game between the University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University has been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24. It was originally scheduled to kickoff this Saturday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. at University Stadium in Albuquerque. The specific kickoff time for Nov. 24 will be determined at a later date.

Both institutions were slated to end their 2001 seasons on Nov. 17, New Mexico at home against Colorado State, and New Mexico State on the road at Louisiana-Lafayette.

“The events of the past few days have affected a lot of people,” said UNM director of athletics Rudy Davalos. “We just believe it would be in the best interests of the institutions, student-athletes and fans that we move the football game to a different date, which will be November 24.”

“We were comfortable with either decision to play or not play,” said Lobos’ head football coach Rocky Long, “but I think this is the right one. Playing the game probably would have been tough on all involved. We look forward to playing the Aggies on November 24.”

The Lobos’ next football game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, at Baylor. UNM’s next home game is Saturday, Oct. 13, against Brigham Young.
