Sophie Hannabas enters her second season at New Mexico after joining the program in July 2023. In her role, Hannabas works with the pitchers and as the team sports coordinator, handling director of operations duties.
Prior to coming to UNM, Hannabas played collegiately at Stephen F. Austin and Southeastern Louisiana, appearing in 41 games with 20 starts in two years at SFA and in 56 games with 26 starts in three years at Southeastern Louisiana.
During her three years at Southeastern Louisiana, she threw a combined 147.4 innings with 69 strikeouts, a .323 opposing batting average, and allowed eight home runs while throwing one no-hitter. Academically, Hannabas was named to the 2020 Spring Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll and 2019 Spring Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and on the field, was named Louisiana Pitcher of the Week in 2019.
In 2021, she transferred to SFA to play under head coach Nicole Dickson, and through her two seasons with the Lumberjacks, combined for 101.3 innings with 63 strikeouts, a .331 opposing batting average, and allowed 10 home runs, with SFA winning the WAC Conference in 2022.
Hannabas graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 2023 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance.
