Herrera signed a homegrown contract with Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer after the season.

JUNIOR (2017): Started in all 17 games he played in for the Lobos as a defender … scored five goals and had five assists for 15 points, leading the team in all three categories (he shared the lead in assists with Devin Boyce) … had 45 shots with 19 on-goal … had three game-winning goals … played in 1539 minutes … was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Best XI Second Team on Aug. 21 … was named to the Premier Development League’s Players to Watch in College List on Aug. 25 … was named Grange and Ashwill Invitational MVP on Sept. 10 … was selected to Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Week on Sept. 12 … 2017 Conference USA Defensive MVP on Nov. 7 … was selected to the All-Conference USA First Team on Nov. 7 … was selected to the United Soccer Coaches’ First-Team All-Southeast Region … was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Postseason Second Team.

SOPHOMORE (2016): Started all 22 games for the Lobos as a defender … scored two goals, including the gamewinner against Cal Poly on Sept. 4 … recorded two assists, one of which came in the 88th minute to force overtime against No. 5 Denver on Oct. 19 … finished the season with 26 shots, nine on goal … named the C-USA Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29 … named to the Mike Berticelli Memorial Invitational All-Tournament Team … competed in the U-20 World Cup in South Korea for Team USA.

FRESHMAN (2015): Made 15 appearances and 14 starts (the majority at right back) for the Lobos and played 1,332 minutes … recorded one assist on the year, and it came on Niko Hansen’s game-winning goal against Missouri State on Sept. 18 … Top Drawer Soccer named him the top freshman defender in the country in its midseason update on Oct. 22, coming in at No. 13 overall … moved up top late in the season and played 154 minutes in the attacking third over the final two games … finished the year with 15 shots, four on goal.

CLUB/DEVELOPMENTAL: Spent three years at Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake’s Academy where he twice reached the USSDA National Championship … was starting right back in 2014 when RSL-AZ reached its first USSDA final … attended training camp with the U.S. U18 National Team in October 2014 … helped RSL-AZ end 2014 on a three-month unbeaten streak.
