Lots of Fun and Big Plays at Fan Photo Day
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — While there were plenty of big plays in Saturday’s @UNMLoboFB scrimmage, for most of the kids and fans in attendance, the bigger plays were afterwards, getting a chance to meet and greet with their Lobo favorites. That all happened on a perfect day for football at Dreamstyle Stadium as the team scrimmaged for 90 minutes in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
Among the highlighted big plays were a long touchdown pass from Lamar Jordan to Delane Hart-Johnson, a couple of bruising runs by UNM backs, including Tyrone Owens, Richard McQuarley and Zahneer Shuler, and a couple of crisp situational plays. Defensively, big plays abounded as well, including several big pass break-ups in the secondary, and a nice interception and subsequent return by Elijah Lilly. Jason Sanders and Corey Bojorquez both looked in midseason form.
The fun came afterwards, when the fans came out of the stands and onto the Branch Field turf to mingle, take pictures and just talk shop. Lamar Jordan talked to some kids about the importance of school, telling them that he was working on his second degree. The most entertaining parts were the littlest of kids enamored with the sheer size of some of UNM’s linemen. All in all, it made for a fun day.
The team will take Sunday off before practicing Monday and Tuesday to finish off Fall Camp. Those are the last of the open Fall Camp practices. The team will take a few days off before resuming on Monday, August 21 on the first day of classes.Lobo Coaches Show: The Lobo Coaches Show, live from Kellys Brew Pub, will begin on Wednesday, August 30 from 7-9 p.m. with specials and great guests, hosted by Robert Portnoy.
