Bob Scott joined the UNM in 2011 as the Program Coordinator and Director of Tennis for the Linda Estes Tennis Center.  He came to UNM from Westhampton Beach, N.Y. where he was the Director of Tennis and head pro at the Westhampton Country Club from 1993-2011.

At the Estes Tennis Center, Scott coordinates all facets of the facility, including scheduling, lessons and league and tournament play.  He also oversees facility upkeep and oversees equipment for the center, which includes six outdoor courts and six indoor courts.

He has served as a tennis pro at Westhampton Country Club, Colorado Springs Racquet Club (Assistant Pro, 1993-99) and at the Broadmoor Hotel and Resort (Head Pro, 1982-93).  Scott was also the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at CSU-Pueblo from 1993-99, and head girls tennis coach at Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs from 1984-93.  To say Scott’s high school teams were good would be a massive understatement.  His teams went a combined 110-0 in ten seasons, winning 10 league titles and 10 district titles with six state championships and four second place finishes.  He was a Gazette Telegraph Coach of the Year eight times.

An exceptional player as well, he went 53-3 at Southern Colorado State combined at No. 1 single and doubles, and was ranked No. 1 by the Colorado Tennis Association in Men’s 35 singles in 1986 and in Men’s 35 doubles in 1988.  He earned the same ranking in Men’s 40 singles and doubles in 1990.  In 2001, he was ranked No. 5 by the USTA nationally for father/son doubles in 2001, teaming with son Bart, a former Lobo player and head coach.

In 2009, he was named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s All-Century Team as Women’s Tennis Coach.

He graduated in 1972 from South Colorado State with a bachelor’s in recreation administration.
