A 2013 graduate of UNM with a B.S. degree in biology, Nakashima also spent time as an intern and a graduate assistant in the Strength and Conditioning department. In between his time as an intern and a GA at UNM, Nakashima spent a year as an intern in strength and conditioning at Menlo College in Atherton, Calif.

Throughout his time at UNM, Nakashima has worked with men’s and women’s soccer, Nordic skiing, swimming and diving, cross country, women’s tennis, baseball, football, and men’s and women’s golf.

As the Assistant Director of Athletic Performance for women’s basketball, Nakashima will develop and implement the strength and conditioning program for the team, communicate with the coaching staff to coordinate lifting times and program goals, and maintain regular contact with athletic training staff to optimize programs for athletes returning to play.

Nakashima is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the NSCA and is a Level 1 Sport Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting. He is also CPR, AED and First Aid certified.
