Robin Goodman enters his fourth season as the assistant coach for the New Mexico men’s tennis team after spending two seasons previous with Baylor.

Goodman has turned UNM’s coaching staff into quite a formidible pairing with head coach Ben Dunbar.  Having served with Dunbar from the start of his tenure, UNM is 41-32 in his first three years, with a conference title in 2019 after UNM went undefeated in Mountain West play.

With UNM, Goodman handles all facets of coaching and administration of the program, including aiding with the scheduling of matches, on-the-court coaching, overseeing academics and some of UNM’s travel logistics.

In his two seasons with Baylor, Goodman assistant Baylor head coach Matt Knoll, helping the Bears to the NCAA Tournament twice, including an appearance in the NCAA Championship semifinals.  Baylor ended the 2015 season ranked No. 3, its highest ranking since 2005, when Baylor was No. 2 in the country.

That top player was Baylor’s Julian Lenz, who was ranked No. 1 in 2015, and finished ranked No. 4 in 2015 and No. 12 in 2016.

Before joining the Baylor staff, Goodman spent four seasons in Des Moines, Iowa, as a member of the Drake men’s tennis program. He racked up 111 career singles wins. He was a two-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection and three-time All-Missouri Valley Player of the Week his senior year. Goodman was a two-time first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete award winner and finished with the fifth most career victories in program history.

Goodman graduated in May of 2014 from Drake University with a degree in business management. He is from Cambridge, England.
