His freshman year he batted .348 and hit 11 HRs, 44 RBIs, 51 runs and 8 stolen bases … he was awarded First Team All-Conference TCCAA honors at the end of his freshman year … also awarded to Preseason JUCO Southeast All-Region Team before his sophomore season … his sophomore year which was cut short due to COVID-19, he batted .349 and added 4 HRs, 16 RBIs and 30 runs … chose Tech over North Carolina and Kentucky.

Cooper High School (Class of 2018)

Played for coach Brian Bush at Randall K. Cooper High School in Florence, Kentucky where he was the number one third basemen in Kentucky coming out of the 2018 class … was also ranked as the 69th third basemen in the country and the 16th player in the state … was awarded to 2017 and 2018 Perfect Game Underclassmen All-American Teams and Perfect Game Preseason All-American and All-Region Teams respectively … played summer ball for the Midland Redskins under coach Bart Hammack.

Runion on choosing UNM: “I felt like it was the best fit to continue pursuing my degree and baseball career. UNM has great facilities and one of the best new coaching staffs in the country. I have also been teammates with Adam Schneider since we were in middle school, so our friendship also played a huge part in coming here.”
