ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The No. 25 New Mexico men’s basketball team returns home Saturday for a matchup with UNLV in front of a sold out crowd at The Pit. Game time is 6:00 p.m. and the game will air on CBS Sports Network and the Lobo Radio Network.
Saturday’s game is sold out, marking the third sellout of the season at The Pit. It is also a White Out at The Pit as fans should wear white to the game. Saturday’s game is the annual Lobos Slam Cancer game, honoring and celebrating all New Mexico cancer survivors. During the game, there will be a special recognition welcoming cancer survivors from the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. and the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a Lobo rally towel. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid lines while going through the security procedures upon entry to The Pit.
New traffic flow patterns, highlighted by right turn only into all parking lots are now in place. Fans are encouraged to click here for a map detailing the best route to take for an efficient arrival to their designated parking lot.
The Lobos are 19-4 this season, 7-3 in the Mountain West, after a 91-73 victory at Wyoming on Tuesday night. New Mexico has four players averaging over 13.0 points per game in conference play, including JT Toppin, the only Mountain West player averaging a double-double in conference games.
UNLV is 12-9 overall, 5-4 in the Mountain West, and brings a three-game win streak to Albuquerque. The Runnin’ Rebels had the midweek off and haven’t played since a 62-48 victory over Wyoming last Saturday in Las Vegas. UNLV is led by the Boone brothers, with Kalib averaging a team-best 12.4 points per game and Keylan averaging 12.1 per game.
UNLV has won eight of the last nine meetings, including an 83-73 victory earlier this season at the Thomas & Mack Center. The Runnin’ Rebels are 15-15 all-time at The Pit, the only team to have played at least three games in The Pit and have a .500 record or better.
The Lobos will begin a two-game road trip on Tuesday with a visit to Nevada. Game time in Reno is 9 p.m. MT (8:00 p.m. PT) and the game will air on CBS Sports Network.
