GUADALAJARA, Mexico – The New Mexico women’s golf team began play Friday at its opening event of the spring, the Collegiate Invitational, with the opening 27 holes at the Guadalajara Country Club. The Lobos shot 33-over during the first round and a half and are in 12th place at the event, which features an elite field with every team ranked in the top 64 of the nation.
New Mexico shot 23-over during the first round of the event and are 10-over at the midway point of round two when play was halted. Florida State is the 27-hole leader at 4-over, while SMU, Colorado State and Georgia round out the top four.
Lauren Lehigh led the Lobos on Friday and is T-20th after Friday’s play at 5-over. She shot a 2-over 74 in the first round and is 3-over through the front nine of the second round. Maria Caparros Levin is at 8-over through 27 holes, whole Myah McDonald is at 10-over, Annie Saechueng is at 11-over and Lisa-Marie Pagliano is at 12-over.
The Collegiate Invitational will conclude Saturday with the completion of the second round and the entire third round of play.
