by Frank Mercogliano

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team heads up I-25 to face off with the Utah State Aggies on Friday at 10 am and then the Boise State Broncos at 10 am on Saturday, with both matches taking place at Air Force.  Both matches are scheduled to be played outside, a first for a match at Air Force this season.

The Lobos are 8-5 on the season and are coming off a tremendous win, a 4-3 thriller at home in the home finale against No. 58 Fresno State.  That gave UNM its first conference win of the season, as UNM is now 1-3 on the year.  The Aggies are 0-4 on the season and 5-9 overall, having lost four in a row.  Boise State is 2-2 on the year and 9-6 overall, coming off a loss.

Both Boise State and Utah State face Air Force at 2 pm opposite of their matches with UNM.  Maud Vandeputte leads the team in singles wins with 17 on the year, sitting at 17-6, and both Katherine Jhang and Hsuan Huang are next.  Jhang is 13-7 overall and Huang is 13-8.  Jhang and Huang both lead the team with 17 doubles wins, giving them 30 total wins on the year each. They trail Vandeputte, who has 33 overall.

There will be no live scoring or live video of either match for UNM.
