Lobos Fall to ETSU 5-2
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — New Mexico dropped the doubles point and saw a couple of winning streaks in singles end as East Tennessee State defeated UNM 5-2 on Sunday in Johnson City. The Lobos are off until next Saturday when they travel to Denver to face the Pioneers. UNM is now 9-4 on the season.
The Lobos got singles wins from Aram Noroozian, who won 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 at No. 3 singles, a from Alex Maggs, who stayed unbeaten on the spring season with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. However, Arda Azkara’s five-match winning streak was snapped 6-3, 7-5 and Georgio Samaha’s team-leading 10-match winning streak was snapped 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
UNM’s match at Denver will end the non-conference season for UNM.
NOTES: Samaha still leads the team with 19 overall singles wins … both Noroozian and Samaha are now 10-1 in their last 11.
