Lobos Finish T-9th at National Invitational Tournament
TUCSON, Ariz. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team concluded play Saturday at the National Invitational Tournament at OMNI Tucson National. The Lobos shot 3-over during the final round to finish the event at 6-under, tied for ninth place among an elite field that included nine top-30 teams.
Host Arizona, ranked No. 18 nationally, won the event at 24-under, one shot ahead of No. 9 Pepperdine and two shots ahead of No. 3 Arizona State. No. 4 Illinois and No. 22 Oklahoma State tied for fourth at 21-under, followed by USC (17-under), No. 12 Florida (14-under), No. 21 Colorado State (8-under) and the Lobos and No. 13 Oklahoma at 6-under.
Bastien Amat posted his third top-10 individual finish, second consecutive, capping an 8-under performance with a final round 3-under 69 to finish T-7th. Albert Boneta shot 73 and Carson Herron shot 75 on Saturday to both finish the event at 2-under. Brandon Shong shot 74 and Matthew Watkins shot 77 in the final round to round out the Lobo lineup. Connor Adams, playing as an individual, shot a final round 73.
The Lobos will return to action March 26-28 with the Hootie at Bulls Bay in South Carolina.
