Men’s Golf Heads to Las Vegas for Southern Highlands Collegiate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team returns to action this week as it travels to Las Vegas for the Southern Highlands Collegiate. The event at the 7,510-yard, par-72 Southern Highlands Golf Club will be held Sunday to Tuesday.

The tournament will consist of one round per day, beginning on Sunday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

New Mexico will be playing against one of the strongest fields it will see this season, with 10 of the 15 teams at the event ranked in the GolfStat Top 30. The Lobos, ranked No. 61 nationally, are joined by No. 4 North Carolina, No. 7 Illinois, No. 8 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 11 Florida, No. 14 Pepperdine, No. 15 Texas A&M, No. 16 Texas, No. 25 San Diego State and No. 30 Georgia. TCU, SMU, UCF and host UNLV round out the field.

The Lobos are fielding a lineup of Albert Boneta, Bastien Amat, Carson Herron, Brandon Shong and Virgilio Paz. It is the same lineup that recently posted T-7th at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawaii.

UNM has two top-two finishes in six events this season, having won the Wolf Pack Classic in October in Reno and posting a runner-up finish when hosting the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in September.
