Lobo Gets Fifth Shutout, Down Lamar 4-0

ABILENE, Texas — UNM is getting used to posting zeroes.  For the fifth time in six games, the Lobos shutout their opponent, this time Lamar on the way to a 4-0 victory, pushing the teams’ record to 5-1 overall. The team heads down south next week to take on New Mexico State and UTEP.

The Lobos quickly took care of earning hte doubles point, winning 6-0 at No. 2 doubles as Maud Vandeputte and Hsuan Huang easily knocked out Ana Jolic and Noelia Lorca.  Katherine Jhang and Leonie Hoppe likewise had little problem at No. 1 doujbles, winning 6-1 over Femke Tjon-A-Joe and Magarita Nikonorova.

Up 1-0, UNM quickly handled things in singles, getting three straight set wins to take the match.  Sataho Toriumi won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 over Megan Do and Jhang beat Lorca at No. 2 6-2, 6-2 to make it 3-0.  Vandeputte earned the clinched at No. 4 over Nikonorova, winning 6-1, 6-4, barely finishing before Hoppe finished off Jolic at No.3, who was up 7-5, 5-2.
