by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team returns home Tuesday night when it hosts Nevada. Game time at The Pit is 8:30 p.m. and the game will air on FS1 and the Lobo Radio Network.

Tuesday’s game is We Are New Mexico Night at The Pit with fans encouraged to wear red for a Cherry Out. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a Cherry T-shirt, along with other giveaways as supplies last. Before entering the arena, fans can check out a display of low riders outside The Pit and there will be a mariachi performance at halftime.

Over 13,500 tickets have been sold as of Monday afternoon, so fans are reminded to arrive early to avoid delays entering the arena. Gates will open at 7:00 p.m. and tickets and parking can be purchased now at GoLobos.com/tickets.

The Lobos (19-4, 6-4 MW) are looking to reach the 20-win milestone for the 28th time in program history and the first time since going 27-7 in 2013-14. New Mexico is led by Jamal Mashburn, Jr., who leads the Mountain West in scoring at 19.4 ppg. Morris Udeze leads the conference in rebounding (8.7 ppg) and double-doubles (nine).

Nevada (18-6, 8-3 MW) is in a three-way tie for second place in the Mountain West after home victories over San Diego State and Air Force last week. The Wolf Pack is led by Jarod Lucas, who ranks third in the conference in scoring at 17.4 ppg.

The Wolf Pack lead the all-time series 13-7 and have won eight straight in the series, UNM’s longest active losing streak against any opponent. Nevada won the year’s first meeting on Jan. 23 in Reno, 97-94 in double overtime. The Wolf Pack are making their first trip to The Pit since 2020 as seven of the last eight matchups in the series have come outside of Albuquerque.

New Mexico will visit Air Force on Friday before returning home to The Pit on Feb. 14 to host Wyoming. Tickets for that game are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.
