ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team will begin the spring portion of its schedule as it travels to Tucson for the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. The event at the 7,072-yard, par-72 Tucson Country Club will be held Monday and Tuesday.

The tournament will begin Monday with the first two rounds of play, followed by the final round on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

New Mexico, ranked No. 59 in the latest Golfweek rankings, is one of eight top-75 teams in the field, along with No. 11 Texas A&M, host No. 22 Arizona, No. 49 SMU, No. 57 BYU, No. 62 New Mexico State, No. 65 Long Beach State and No. 72 Cal. Cal Poly, Central Michigan, Iowa State, Seattle, Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara and West Virginia round out the field.

The Lobos are fielding a lineup of Albert Boneta, Bastien Amat, Brandon Shong, Carson Herron and Virgilio Paz. Connor Adams is playing the event as an individual.

UNM hasn’t played since ending the fall season with a victory at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno in October. It was the second straight year the Lobos won the event, and Amat was the individual champion of the tournament.

Last year, New Mexico was the runner-up of the Arizona Intercollegiate, shooting 34-under to finish one shot behind host Arizona.
