by Jacob Trasen

Reno, Nev. – The University of New Mexico swimming and diving program is set to resume their 2022-23 season in Reno, Nevada on Saturday with a dual meet against Nevada. The meet is expected to begin at 11am local Pacific Time (12pm Mountain) tomorrow at the Lombardi Recreation Center.

The Lobos (2-5, 0-3 MW) will be returning to competition for their first meet since December 19, 2022. The last time the Lobos were in action was at the UNLV Invitational, where they placed seventh out of 10 teams.

This will be the fifth time that the Lobos have faced the Wolf Pack (5-0, 1-0 MW) in school history, with their record currently standing at 1-3 in the series. In their most recent matchup, New Mexico lost to Nevada by a score of 109-189 in Reno, Nevada in the 2019-20 season.

Saturday’s meet will be New Mexico’s fourth Mountain West Conference dual meet of the season. The Lobos dropped the first to Wyoming on October 13-14, 2022, and then the next two to Colorado State and Air Force in a home double-dual meet on December 2-3, 2022. That double-dual meet was their most recent conference bout.
