by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team will conclude the fall portion of its schedule as it travels to Nevada for the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno. The event at the 7,302-yard, par-72 Hidden Valley Country Club will be held Monday and Tuesday.

The tournament will begin Monday with the first two rounds of play, followed by the final round on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

New Mexico is the defending champion of the event, having captured the Wolf Pack Classic title last year. Albert Boneta is in the Lobo lineup as he looks to defend his individual title at the event.

New Mexico, ranked No. 68 in the latest Golfweek rankings, is one of seven top-100 teams in the field, along with No. 18 San Diego State, No. 43 BYU, No. 56 Fresno State, No. 70 Colorado, No. 80 San Francisco and No. 82 UNLV. Host Nevada, Loyola Marymount, Saint Mary’s, San Diego and UCLA round out the field.

Joining Boneta in the lineup for the Lobos are Bastien Amat, Carson Herron, Matthew Watkins and Virgilio Paz. Brandon Shong is playing the event as an individual.

UNM is coming off a 10th place finish last week at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas. Following this week’s tournament, the Lobos won’t return to action until late January when they open the spring season in Arizona.
