Lobo Men's Tennis Opens in Arizona

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The 2022-23 season for the Lobo Men’s Tennis team in its second year under head coach Chris Russell begins on Friday as the squad travels to Tucson for the WIldcat Invitational.  Fans can follow the draws at the above link.  Teams from Northern Arizona, New Mexico State, San Diego State and Grand Canyon will be playing along with Arizona and New Mexico.

In the Black Singles Draw, Alexander Maggs is the top seed and will advance automatically to the quarterfinal round where he will face either Vassanth Mathan of New Mexico State or Wyatt Anderson of Grand Canyon.  Daniil Kakhniuk is in the same draw as the No. 3 seed, and he will face either Lennert Melzer of San Diego State in the quartefrfinals or Ntal Richards of Grand Canyon.

In the White Draw, No. 1 seed Georgio Samaha will face off with GCU’s Adrien Colulome in a quarterfinal match.  In the Red Draw, Aram Noroozian will face San Diego State’s Mathieu Josserand in an opening quarterfinal match.  In the Grey Draw Jan Pucalka faces Maciej Ziomber of Northern Arizona in an opening quarterfinal match and in the Blue Draw Arda Azkara will meet with NAU’s Dominic Buzonics in an opening quarterfinal match.

In doubles Maggs and Pucalka are in the Wildcat Draw, facing Piotr Galus and Buzonics of NAU while in the Beardown Draw Samaha and Kakhniuk face San Diego State’s Liam Spiers and Melzer.  Also in theBeardown Draw, Azkara and Noroozian face a different San Diego State tandem in Andre Salah and Josserand.
