by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s soccer team opens a two-game road trip on Thursday with visit to UC San Diego. The Lobos and Tritons will kick-off at 8:00 p.m. MT (7:00 p.m. PT) at the Triton Soccer Stadium in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Lobos (1-2-2) are coming off a 2-1 loss to Grand Canyon in a matchup of preseason conference favorites. Jadyn Edwards scored her Mountain West-leading fifth goal of the season for the Lobos, as she has scored or assisted on six of UNM’s seven goals this season.

The Tritons (1-3-1) are in their third season in Division I after being a perennial Division II powerhouse. UCSD is coming off a week that produced a 1-0 win at Northern Arizona on Tuesday and a 2-2 tie at San Diego State on Sunday.

Thursday’s game is the first all-time meeting between the schools. UCSD is the second first-time opponent on the Lobos’ schedule this season, along with Rutgers.

The Lobos will conclude the non-conference schedule on Sunday when they visit UC Riverside. That game will be noon MT (11 a.m. PT) and also air on ESPN+.
