Lobo Soccer Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

by Alma Solis

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team has earned the United Soccer Coaches’ Team Academic Award, announced the organization on Thursday.

New Mexico is one of 382 women’s soccer teams and one of five Mountain West soccer programs to earn the award this season, alongside Fresno State, San Jose State, Colorado College and Utah State. This is the 18th time the Lobos have earned the award since its start in 1996.

For a team to be considered for the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA or junior college roster forms for the fall season.

The Lobos kick off their 2022 season as they host the Lobo Invitational, first facing Rutgers on August 18th at 7:30 p.m. (MT).
