NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Mexico women’s track & field team earned the No. 19 spot on the USTFCCCA’s week two rating index, announced the organization on Monday.

This past weekend was the Lobos first weekend of outdoor season action, competing in the Stanford Invitational and Texas Tech Masked Rider. Seven Lobos placed on the qualifying list to give the team 99.55 points towards the rating index.

In the 10K run, Amelia Mazza-Downie earned second on the qualifying list to give the Lobos 30.51 points. Emma Heckel was right behind her in the event, earning the team 25.99 points. Aliandrea Upshaw also found her way into the top-ten of the event for 17.30 points. The final Lobo to earn double digit points was Abbe Goldstein in the 1500m run who contributed 13.08 points.

Goldstein also contributed another .03 points for her time in the 800m. Three more Lobos contributed single digit points to help elevate New Mexico to the 19th spot on the rating index. Samree Dishon earned 8.79 points in the 5000m run, Elise Thorner contributed 2.03 points in the 1500m and Tianna Holmes earned 1.82 points in the 400m run.

The Lobos will host their first home outdoor meet of the season on Thursday, April 7, as they welcome teams in for the UNM Spring Invite. The team will also be sending some women’s student-athletes to the Jo Meaker Classic from April 7-9 at West Texas A&M.
