ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico’s women’s tennis team will get a chance to do something it hasn’t done in two years … play in a Fall Tournament.  The Lobo women’s team will head to Las Cruces to take part in the Aggie Fall Invitational.

The Lobos will have seven student-athletes take part, including five returners and two newcomers taking part in three singles flights and one doubles flight.  Along with New Mexico, teams from New Mexico State, UTEP, Abilene Christian, Western New Mexico, Arizona Christian and New Mexico Military Institute.

All five Lobo returners are seeded in the three various singles flights.  In the Crimson flight, Hsuan Huang will be the No. 2 seed, taking on Linda Claire Eloundou Nga of NMMI.  Yue Lin “Polly” Chen is the No. 4 seed and will face NMSU’s Georgia Townsend.  The only other Lobo in the flight is Sanne Schalekamp, who will face Veronika Lebisova of UTEP.

In the Grey flight, Hsiang-Wen “Albie” Huang is the No. 2 seed, facing Arizona Christian’s Samantha Salim, and Satoho Toriumi is the No. 4 seed, where she will face Emma Troyer of Arizona Christian.  In the White flight, Myu Kageyama is the No. 3 seed and will take on another player from Arizona Christian, Johanna Lutz.  Sarah O’Connor, UNM’s other freshman, will face Manuella Eloundou Nga of NMMI.

In doubles, the pairing of Chen and Albie Huang are the top-seeded duo.  They earned a bye in the round of 16.  UNM’s other pairings in the round of 32 are Toriumi and Kageyama and Schalekamp and Hsuan Huang.
