XC Heads to NMSU for Season Opener

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico cross country teams officially open its season Saturday, September 18th, with the Lori Fitzgerald Open hosted by New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. The men’s 5000m will begin at 7:40 a.m. MT, followed by the women’s 5000m race at 8:10 a.m. MT.

Results will be available HERE.

Running for the Lobos on Saturday will be Nehemiah Cionelo, Reece Donihi, Iolo Hughes, Abdirizak Ibrahim, Matthew Larkin and Harrison Smith III, and Awet Yohannes on the men’s side.

Entered on the women’s side will be 14 entries in Lauren Bettencourt, Cassandra Campanozzi, Cora Cooke, Samree Dishon, Isabella Faurla, Kathryn Ferguson, Semira Mebrahtu Firezghi, Kyla Fugate, Juanita Johnson, Jessi King, Celeste Martinez, Isabela Nellos, Brenda Rosales-Coria, and Lydia Russell.

The Lobos will be joined on the course by New Mexico State, UTEP, Western New Mexico University, and El Paso Community, with all schools running both men and women.
