ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Chris Russell era of Lobo Tennis will begin with four Fall events and eight home Spring matches.  The two-time defending Mountain West Champions will open its Fall season in Provo for the ITA Mountain Region Championships, hosted by BYU September 21-25.

The Lobos also have fall tournaments in Tucson at the Wildcat Invitational (Oct. 1-3), in Santa Barbara at the Gaucho Classic (Oct. 8-10) and in Eugene at the Duck Invitational (Nov. 12-14).

The spring season will begin with a home match against Utah on January 23.  UNM will then go on the road for a match at Gonzaga on February 4 before returning home and taking on Santa Clara (February 11) and Grand Canyon (February 13), with those two schools playing on the middle day against each other.

UNM also has a home non-conference weekend the following weekend, hosting BYU on February 18 and Northern Arizona on February 20.  UNM will not be at home the entire month of March, a long road swing of eight matches, but just in three cities.  UNM will compete in the Arizona State Invitational February 25-27 and then the San Diego Invitational March 10-11.  After that tourney, UNM stays in San Diego to face Boston University.

UNM travels to Houston March 26 and 27 to face East Tennessee State and Rice before opening up its six-match conference slate.  UNM, which is 15-1 in its last 16 Mountain West matches, will host Air Force to open the season on April 1.  UNM clinched the Mountain West title in 2021 with a 4-1 win at Air Force.  The following week  sees UNM with a split trip, traveling to Nevada on April 8 before hosting Boise State April 10.  UNM then has a two-match swing at UNLV (April 14) and San Diego State (April 16) before hosting Utah State on April 23 in the regular season finale.

The Mountain West Tournament is April 29-May 1 in Colorado Springs, hosted by the Air Force Academy.
