Kerr to Represent the U.K. in the Olympics, Two Former Lobos finish in Top 20 of the U.S. Trials

EUGENE, Ore. — Rounding out the rest of the Lobos at the U.S. Olympic Trials was former University of New Mexico track athlete Ednah Kurgat, who finished in 11th place of the 10K with a time of 32:36.93. Fiona O’Keeffe, who signed with UNM right before the COVID-19 shutdown, finished in 20th place in the race with a time of 33:03.09.

Weini Kelati dropped out of the race after 17 laps but held the sixth-place spot in the race through those 17. 

Former Lobo Josh Kerr will represent the U.K. in the Tokyo Olympics after qualifying in the 1500m with a time of 3:40.72. Kerr will make his Olympic debut in August. Also in the race was former Lobo Max Wharton, who finished in 11th place with a time of 3:45.90.

Also at the U.K. Trials was former Lobo Michael Wilson competed in the men’s 800m and finished in sixth place of his heat with a time of 1:53.25.

Tomorrow, two former Lobos will compete in the U.K. Trials. First is Sam Trigg-Petrovic, who will compete in the men’s triple jump starting at 8:15 a.m. MT. Charlotte Arter will then compete in the women’s 5000m at 8:30 a.m. MT.
