Men's Golf Travels to UT Austin for George Hannon Intercollegiate

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The No. 27-ranked University of New Mexico men’s golf team is returning to action after just a five-day break as it is set to compete at the George Hannon Intercollegiate hosted by UT Austin in Austin, Texas starting Monday.

The competition will be 54 holes over two days at the University of Texas Golf Club. The championship course is par-71 spanning 7,412 yards with a 76.7 rating and a slope of 144.

The Lobos are coming off of a close matchup against a stacked field at the Lamkin San Diego Classic less than a week ago. UNM tied for eighth overall despite finishing just nine strokes out of second place.

UNM was again led by junior Sam Choi who shot a one-over 217 on the tournament that started with a four-under 68 in round one.

This week’s lineup will consist of Choi, sophomore Albert Boneta, freshman Bastien Amat, junior Ignacio Arcaya and redshirt-senior Ross Sinclair.

The No. 27 Lobos are one of 13 squads set to compete this week including four other squads ranked in the top 35 in the nation: No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 11 Oklahoma State, No. 19 Texas Tech and No. 31 Baylor. Also in the field is Florida Atlantic, Kansas State, New Mexico State, UT Austin, TCU, UT Arlington, Little Rock and West Virginia.

The Lobos are set to tee off Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT (7:30 a.m. MT). Play will be continuous as players are scheduled to finish two rounds Monday before competing in the final round on Tuesday with a double tee start.
