No. 22 Lobos Travel to San Diego for Lamkin San Diego Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team, ranked No. 22 in the nation by GolfStat, is set to take on the Lamkin San Diego Classic on Monday, March 8. The Lobos will play three rounds over three days.

The Lamkin San Diego Classic will tee off Monday morning at the par-72, 7,033-yard San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif. The Lobos will tee off at 7:10 a.m. PT / 8:10 a.m. MT on hole one.

The field features seven Mountain West squads including Air Force, Colorado State, Nevada, San Diego State, San José State and Wyoming. The Lobos (22) and the Aztecs (20) are both ranked in the top-25 in the nation by Golf Stat.

New Mexico is the second-highest ranked team of the 20-team field.

Also competing on the week is BYU, Cal Poly, Colorado, Denver, No. 26 Kansas, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, San Diego, Saint Mary’s, UC Davis, UCLA, USC and Washington.

New Mexico has played just one tournament so far this season after the All-American Intercollegiate hosted by Houston was postponed due to inclement weather. UNM finished third of 17 squads at the Arizona Intercollegiate hosted by Arizona in its opening competition of the season on Jan. 25-27.

The Lobos were led by junior Sam Choi and sophomore Albert Boneta who each finished with a score of 214 (+1) to tie for fifth place overall.

New Mexico’s lineup will consist of Choi, Boneta, junior Brandon Shong, freshman Bastien Amat and redshirt-senior Ross Sinclair.
