Lobos Remain Second in USTFCCCA Poll, Gain One First-Place Vote
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The University of New Mexico women’s cross country team has received one first-place vote and a total of 312 points in the second USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll released on Tuesday.
The Lobos remained second, sitting just six points behind No. 1 Arkansas and six points ahead of No. 3 NC State after the Wolfpack moved up a spot.
Arkansas received seven first-place votes, NC State received one first-place vote and No. 5 Stanford received two first-place votes.
The Razorbacks and Wolfpack are both coming off of conference titles, with the Razorbacks winning their eighth-straight SEC title and the Wolfpack winning their fifth-straight ACC title over the last week.
In the first poll of the cross country season released last Tuesday, UNM received 316 points but no first-place votes.
The Lobos were again one of three Mountain West teams ranked in the poll, with Boise State remaining at 14 and Air Force dropping four spots to 27.
The fall portion of the cross country season is now complete and the NCAA Division I National Championships being rescheduled to be held on March 15, 2021.
