Four Earn All-MW Honors in Women's Tennis

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Four Lobos earned All-Mountain West honors in women’s tennis as the league announced its end of season awards.  Hsiang-Wen “Albie” Huang and Bronte Murgett were named All-Mountain West in singles and Sara Kuuttila-Webbert and Myu Kageyama were named to the team in doubles.  Overall 16 singles players were honored along with eight doubles teams.

New Mexico tied for the most players honored in singles with two.  Despite the women’s tennis season ending eraly due to the COVID-19 crisis in the United States, the league announced 2020 honors.

Murgett, a junior, led the team in singles wins with 13, going 13-5 overall.  In the spring dual season she played both No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles, going a combined 5-3.  She went 8-2 in the fall season.  Huang, also a junior, was second on the team in wins, going 12-5.  She went 6-1 in the spring, playing No. 4, 5 and 6 singles. She also went 6-4 in the fall.

Kuuttila-Webbert and Kageyama are both sophomore transfers, with Kuuttila-Webbert coming from Michigan State and Kageyama from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  They combined to 7-5 as a doubles team, including 6-4 in the spring, going a perfect 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
