Lobos Head to Arizona for Wildcat Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is back in action on Monday, March 9 through Tuesday, March 10 as it travels to Tucson, Ariz. for the Arizona Wildcat Invitational hosted by Arizona. The Lobos will compete against a strong field of 11 teams at the 7,283-yard, par-72 course at the Sewalio Golf Club.

The Lobos will be competing in a field of 11 schools including a pair of top-15 squads in No. 10 Arizona and No. 15 Oregon. In addition, the Lobos will take on Fresno State, Colorado, NM State, Iowa State, Tulane, Denver, UNLV and Long Beach State.

The Lobos enter the tournament having competed against all of the teams in the field at least once this season with the exception of No. 10 Arizona and in-state rival NM State.

UNM enters the tournament coming off of an eighth-place finish at the Gunrock Invitational hosted by UC Davis March 2-3 and just before heading to Sacramento, posted its best finish of the season in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Rebel Beach Invitational, hosted by UNLV and Long Beach State Feb. 17-18. The Lobos finished three strokes ahead of Long Beach State and 15 strokes ahead of UNLV in the Rebel Beach Invitational en route to a third-place finish in Las Vegas. Fellow Mountain West competitor Fresno State finished second overall just ahead of New Mexico.

In UNM’s last competition at the Gunrock invitational, freshman Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana was the top finisher for the Lobos on the overall leaderboard tying for 11th with a final score of 225 (+9).

The first two rounds of the Wildcat Invitational will tee off on Monday, March 9 with a 7:30 a.m. MT shotgun start and will be followed by round three on Tuesday.
