Huang Advances to a pair of Bedford Finals
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Hsiang-Wen “Albie” Huang advanced to both the Bravo singles and doubles finals with a pair of wins, highlighting day three of the Bedford Cup for the Lobos.
Huang won her semifinal match 6-1, 6-4 over Mimi Bland of Northern Arizona to advance to the title match where she will face Ana Kaftanova of Wyoming. She nearly had a faceoff with her regular season doubles partner, but Yue Lin “Polly” Chen lost 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. Huang and freshman Alisia Manolescu advanced to the Bravo Flight doubles title match with an 8-4 win over Air Force.
In the Alpha singles bracket, UNM lost both semifinal matches with Bronte Murgett losing 6-3, 6-4 to Northern Arizona’s Chairra Tomasetti and Danielle Quevedo losing 6-4, 6-2 to T.J. Fumagalli of Air Force.
