Annual Lobo Club Golf Tournament a Success Again
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The UNM Lobo Club held its annual Lobo Club Golf Tournament Friday, May 31st at Santa Ana Golf Club. This year’s event featured a field of 44, three-person teams, with numerous UNM coaches, administrators, and supporters.
The annual golf tournament is one of the Lobo Club’s signature events and raises money for student-athlete scholarships at the University of New Mexico. This year’s event raised approximately $43,000. The 2019 tournament presented by New Mexico Mutual was a three-person scramble format tournament. This year’s winning team, The Forensics Group, shot a phenomenal winning score of 55.
Director of Athletics Eddie Nuñez shared his thoughts on this year’s tournament and the amount of support that was present throughout the day Friday, “I’m so appreciative of our tremendous supporters. In a weekend in which we won a national title, had two more student-athletes named Academic All-America and had three members of our baseball team drafted, it shows how great UNM can be, and it’s a direct result of our great fans and supporters. I’m also very appreciative of our partnership with New Mexico Mutual and their support of our programs.”
This year’s tournament was presented by New Mexico Mutual. President and CEO of New Mexico Mutual, Norm Becker, was excited to be a part of a signature event. “Support for our local community is a core value for New Mexico Mutual. We could not be prouder to partner with UNM’s Lobo Club to provide scholarship opportunities to all UNM student-athletes,” Becker said.
