Men's Basketball Conference Schedule Released

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Mountain West has officially released the conference schedule for the 2019-20 season, the league announced Thursday. Each Mountain West institution will play nine home games and make nine road trips during the conference season. This is the seventh year that the MW has utilized the 18-game format.

OFFICIAL MOUNTAIN WEST RELEASE

The Lobos will kick off Mountain West play on December 4 with a home contest against Boise State before taking to a pair of road games at Wyoming on Dec. 7 and San José State on New Year’s Day.

Thursday’s released schedule is not yet “finalized” as CBS Sports Network, ESPN Networks, AT&T SportsNet and the Mountain West Network on Stadium have not yet selected which games they will broadcast. This selection process will take place throughout the summer/early fall and may involve the shifting of some Wednesday games to Tuesdays and some Saturday games to Sundays.

With 11 teams in the Mountain West, each team will play eight opponents twice, and two opponents just once throughout the conference schedule. Last season, the Lobos faced Air Force and Boise State just once. In 2019-20, UNM will take on Colorado State just once on Jan. 15 and Utah State in the final game of the regular season on February 29 in Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit.

Each team also has two scheduled bye dates. The Lobos are scheduled to have byes on January 4, which will follow back-to-back road games against Wyoming (Dec. 7) and San José State (Jan. 1). The second bye of the season is scheduled for February 5 following a road game at Fresno State (Feb. 1) and preceding a home game against Wyoming (Feb. 8).

Additionally, the conference announced the format and game times for the 2020 MW Men’s Basketball Championship. The 10-game tournament is set to begin Wednesday, March 4 with three first-round games. The men’s quarterfinals are set for Thursday, March 5 with semifinal play on Friday, March 6. The tournament will conclude with the men’s championship game on Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m. PT.

Once the television schedule has been finalized, changes to dates will be noted on GoLobos.com for UNM games and official game times will be added. Pending broadcast date shifting, below is the 2019-20 Mountain West schedule for the Lobos.
