Lobos Conclude 2019 Fall Season in the Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team concluded its 2019 fall campaign at The White Sands Invitational hosted by Houston on Wednesday. Freshman Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana had a four-stroke improvement from round two to finish the final round one under, 71. On the week, she was the best finisher for the Lobos with a three-round score of 221, good for 34th place overall.

Lertsadwattana finished rounds one and two with a score of 75 (+3) before wrapping up round three with a 71, finishing five over for the tournament. She placed just four strokes outside the top 20 while registering a par-3 scoring average of 3.08 (+1, T10th) and a par-5 scoring average of 4.67 (-4, T4th).
 
Junior Caroline Jansson finished second on the Lobo leaderboard and tied for 59th overall. She posted a score of 73 (+1) in rounds one and two before carding a 79 (+7) in round three for a final score of 225 (+9).

Freshman Lauren Lehigh finished with a score of 228 (+12) over the three rounds while teammate and sophomore Tiana Cruz was just one stroke behind with a 229 (+13). Lehigh and Cruz finished round three with a final scores of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4), respectively. Lehigh also registered an average of 3.08 (+1) in par-3 scoring to tie for 10th overall.
 
Rounding out the UNM squad was freshman Alice Rindestig with a three-day total of 233 (+17) after posting a 77 (+5) in rounds one and two and a 79 (+7) in round three.

As a team, the Lobos finished the invitational in 14th with a three-day total of 903 (+39). UNM registered 162 pars and 31 birdies over the three rounds of competition. After three days of the invitational, No. 2 Texas took first with an 828 (-36), followed by Arkansas in second (857, -7) and Oklahoma in third (858, -6).

The Lobos will return to action for their spring 2020 season on Monday, Feb. 17 through Tuesday Feb. 18 at the Spanish Trail Country Club for the Rebel Beach Invitational hosted by UNLV/Long Beach State in Las Vegas, Nev.
