ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is set to remain home on Tuesday night as it takes on (RV) North Texas (10-1) in Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit at 7 p.m. The Lobos (5-4) enter the contest coming off of an 82-70 victory over Central Arkansas on Sunday afternoon.

North Texas enters Tuesday after a 10-day break, coming off of two straight wins over Indiana State on the road (80-69) and UT Arlington at home (63-61). The Mean Green are receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll and enters the season coming off of a CBI Championship.

The Lobos are led by four players averaging double digits through the first nine games of the season including senior Anthony Mathis (14.9), junior Corey Manigault (11.1), redshirt-sophomore Vance Jackson (10.9) and sophomore Makuach Maluach (10.0). The Lobos also have redshirt-junior Carlton Bragg in their arsenal as the transfer made his debut in his first game in a year and a half on Sunday against UCA. He went 7-for-12 from the floor accumulating 16 points. 

Mathis is currently ranked 10th in the nation in 3-point field goals per game (3.89) and 36th in 3-point field goal percentage (46.1). He is also ranked 31st in the nation in total 3-pointers with 35 on the season. 

SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday’s game marks the third in the series for the teams and the Lobos lead 2-0 with both games occurring in Albuquerque. The first meeting was on Dec. 26, 1987 (77-69) and the last was on Dec. 17, 1990 (98-84).

THE COACHES
Head coach Paul Weir is 24-19 in his second season with the Lobos, 52-25 in his third season as a head coach. North Texas head coach Grant McCasland is 30-19 in his second season with the Mean Green and 50-31 overall in his third season.
