ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico’s women’s tennis team heads to Colorado for a pair of weekend matches against Denver and Colorado as the squad looks for its first wins over the season. New Mexico plays at Denver on Friday and Colorado on Sunday.
The Lobos are coming off a tough weekend where they lost to No. 6 Georgia 4-0 and then Georgia State 4-0. While the scores were both shutouts, UNM played well in both matches, including the loss to Georgia State, which ended with UNM about to get on the board in one singles match when Ludivine Burguire cramped up and couldn’t continue. The Lobos also had chances against Georgia but couldn’t capitalize.
The road warrior Lobos will be playing the third and fourth matches of a season-opening run of 10 straight matches away from home. New Mexico played it’s opening weekend without two of its top players in Emily Olivier and Rachana Bhat.
