QUICK LOBO NOTES
LOBOS MAKE THE MOST OF FRESNO STATE SERIES
It’s tough going up against the No. 23 ranked Fresno State Bulldogs three times in a row but last weekend, the Lobos made the most of it. In game one, the Lobos were down 5-1 but cut the deficit to 5-4 but Fresno State showed why they were No. 23 in the nation, claiming that first game 11-5. The Lobos had a 2-1 lead in game two going into the fifth inning but a couple pitching mistakes cost the Lobos the game, falling 6-2. The final game was the toughest game for the Lobos as Fresno State came out with big offense early and ended up taking that game 11-1 in five innings.
FRANC LEADS THE WAY AGAINST BULLDOGS
Junior Shelbie Franc led the Lobos over last weekend against the No. 23 ranked Bulldogs. She hit .429, going 3-for-7 at the plate. Her biggest hit of the weekend came on Sunday, hitting her sixth career triple, that was just short of going over the right field fence. That fueled a little bit of energy for the Lobos as freshman Cheyenne Smith singled to score Franc. Franc also scored a team-best four runs over the weekend.
RIMMER BECOMING A TOP PLAYER IN UNM HISTORY
Senior Mariah Rimmer has made her mark here at the University of New Mexico. She will go down as one of the top players in UNM history.
