The University of New Mexico Office of Career Services Mentoring program hosted an etiquette dinner for junior and senior student athletes on Tuesday night in the Student Union Building. Approximately 30 student athletes attended the dinner. The event was also a networking opportunity. Business professionals from several different businesses around the Albuquerque area attended to meet the student athletes and give them advice about venturing out into the business world.

The first 30 to 40 minutes the student athletes got a chance to introduce themselves to the professionals and ask them questions about their profession and how each got involved in their respective jobs.

After that the student athletes and business professionals sat down together for dinner. At dinner proper etiquette skills were taught while the professionals got to know the student athletes a little bit better.

“I thought the event went very well,” Amy Beggin said. “I learned the BD rule, which means the bread plate is to the left and the drink is to the right, among other things. The professionals gave good advice, I am glad I went.”
