ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Amy Beggin scored a game-high 19 points for New Mexico, as the Lobos lost to TCU, 57-54, Tuesday night at The Pit. Adrianne Ross added a game-high 17 points and tied her career-high of eight assists to lead the Lady Frogs.
Beggin, a sophomore guard out of Maplewood Minn., was 5 of 16 from the field, including 4 of 12 from the three-point arc. She also recorded a career-high five steals.
With the Lady Frogs taking an early 15-11 lead with 8:06 to go in the first half, Heather Roden hit a three from the corner to spark a 21-9 TCU run to end the first half, and make the score 36-20 at the break. The 16-point Lady Frog lead was TCU’s largest lead of the first half. The Lobos 20 first-half points tied their lowest output of the season.
The Lobos opened the second half with a 16-6 run to cut the Lady Frogs lead to eight, 42-36 with 12:52 left in the contest. TCU came back with a 13-4 run to push the lead back to 55-40. The Lobos battled back once again with a 14-1 run, to cut the Lady Frog lead to 56-54 with 16.7 seconds remaining. Adrianne Ross hit one of two free throws with 8.1 remaining to secure the 57-54 Lady Frogs win.
