The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team scored 11 players on the Academic All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation squad today. The Lobos lead the league in representation on the all-academic team, followed by Denver (9), Air Force (4), UNLV (4), Sacramento State (3) and San Jose State (1).
Seniors Ben Ashwill, Erik Bagwell, Cody Hanna, Brandon Moss, Jeff Rowland, Lance Watson and Matt Wootton, junior Andrew Boyens and sophomores Blake Danaher, Mike Graczyk and Joey Vitagliano were all recognized for their work in the classroom. To be considered for the team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, post a 3.0 cumulative grade-point-average and participate in at least half of the team’s games.
The Lobos won their fourth MPSF in five years in 2005 with a 9-1-2 record in league play. UNM had a banner year, advancing to the finals of the College Cup and posting an 18-2-3 record.
