The University of New Mexico men’s golf teams are currently in 11th and 15th place at the 20-team 51st Annual William H. Tucker Invitational. The Lobo varsity team is 15-over par (297-294=591) after two rounds on the par-72, 7,350 yard UNM Championship Course, while the UNM JV team is 24-over par (292-308=600). The overall lead belongs to UNLV, the only team under par) at 6-under par (282-288=570).
The Lobo varsity team was led by senior Jay Choi who is tied for 17th at 1-over par (71-74=145). Choi is followed by senior Mark Anderson (72-75=147) and freshman Nick Geyer (75-72=147) who are tied for 29th at 3-over par, junior Charlie Beljan is tied for 68th at 8-over par (79-73=152) and sophomore Robb Bierbaum is tied for 80th at 10-over par (79-75=154).
The second New Mexico team was led by freshmen Darrin Hall who is tied for 29th at 3-over par (71=76=147). Following Hall is freshmen Travis Reid who is tied for 54th at 6-over par (75-75=150), freshmen Guillermo Chavez tied for 64th at 7-over par (71-80=151), freshmen Jacob Lestishen is tied for 97th at 16-over par (83=77=160) and freshmen Dan Saltz in 100th at 17-over par (75-86=161).
The Tucker individual lead belongs to Andres Gonzales of UNLV at 5-under par (67-72=139) and leads a group of three players by two strokes.
The final 18-holes will be played tomorrow with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. off the 1st and 10th holes. The Lobos will tee off beginning at 8:42 off the 10th tee, while the top four teams begin teeing off the 1st tee at the same time. For live scoring and full results go to www.golfstatresults.com.
