SKILLMAN, N.J. – Sophomore Max Jones was one of 163 men’s tennis players selected by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships hosted by the Univ. of Tulsa, Oct. 3-9. Jones, last year’s Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, will start in the qualifying draw.
Jones was the only Lobo selected for singles competition, one of nine from the MWC and one of 12 from the Mountain Region VII. Air Force’s Shannon Buck, Boise State’s Luke Shields and Denver’s Adam Holmstrom were the only three from the conference or region selected to the main draw.
Nine doubles tandems from the region and five from the MWC were also selected for the tournament. Jones and classmate Kamil Pajkowski were placed on the alternate list.
There are eight spots still open for both the singles and doubles draws. The spots will be filled on Sept. 18th with those listed on the alternate lists and/or other players who have significant collegiate results through Sept. 18.
The Lobos will play in the New Mexico State tournament Sept. 16-18. For current information on the All-American Championship, please visit the official website at www.ITAtennis.com.
