Special guest JR Brow will headline an evening of food, fun and bidding at the Howl of a Good Time III auction extravaganza, sponsored by Frontier Restaurant/Golden Pride Chicken and Cross Country Auto Sales, benefiting athletic scholarships at the University of New Mexico on Saturday, August, 27 at the Marriott Pyramid North.

The Lobo Club’s third annual auction extravaganza will feature more than 225 silent auction items categorized into in Art, Children’s, Clothing, Fitness & Wellness, Getaways, Home & Car, Memorabilia, Miscellaneous, Restaurants & Entertainment or Sports & Leisure. Over 200 donors have contributed premium items including a pair of metal art sculptures by Doug Wiegel, a week’s stay in an oceanside condo in Hawaii, tickets for Arizona Diamondbacks, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, New York Yankees and San Francisco 49ers games, tons of exclusive Lobo memorabilia and much, much more. An up-to-date listing of all auction lots is available on-line at www.unmloboclub.org.

In addition to the vast array of silent auction items attendees will have a chance to bid on more than a dozen live auction items, including a Kitchen Remodel valued at over $15,000, a San Diego Family Getaway, a Lasik procedure, a private dining experience by Le Café Miche’s Klaus Hjortkjaer, a lease on a car for a year and La Tierra de los Lobos, an original 36″ x 60′ painting by Catherine Massey. “This has quickly become our feature event and fundraiser,” said Jada Lucey Martinez, Associate Athletic Director for Development and the Executive Director of the Lobo Club. “We have raised nearly $200,000 in just two years and have set our goals high for this year. It’s more than just a fundraiser; it is a ton of fun with a great buffet dinner and an opportunity to see our student-athletes in a different light as they serve as table hosts during the event. It’s fun to see a football player serving water this week when you know you’ll be watching them on the field next week!”

JR Brow, an up and coming comedian who combines a flare for music and comedy to provide a side-splitting and entertaining evening for all ages, will provide the evening’s entertainment and serve as the guest auctioneer along side legendary Randy Summers. Also making appearances at the event will be UNM Head Coaches including Rocky Long, who is offering a BBQ style dinner at his Placitas home as part of the live auction, Ritchie McKay and Don Flanagan as well as Director of Athletics Rudy Davalos.

“Our goal is to provide a value-oriented auction evening that is a ton of fun,” commented Lucey Martinez. “Our coaches and student-athletes pitch in to make sure this a rewarding and entertaining experience for everyone who attends the Howl.”

All proceeds from this spectacular event benefit student-athlete scholarships through the Lobo Club, the fundraising entity of UNM Athletics. This year’s event has a baseball theme and patrons are encouraged to “wear their Lobo red.” Howl of A Good Time III will get underway with the opening of the silent auction “tailgate” area at 5:30 p.m. with complimentary beer and wine and pre-game themed hors d’oeuvres. Tickets for this premier fundraising event can be purchased on-line at www.UNMLoboClub.org or by calling the Lobo Club at 925-5014.
