ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Texas A&M’s Yvgeny Supkeo and the College of Santa Fe’s Ricardo Omana and Ivan Angula took home the crowns from the annual UNM Balloon Fiesta today. Supeko, the tourney’s top-seed, defeated teammate Brett Joelson, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 while Omana and Angula, a third seed, knocked off top-seeded Marko Bundalo and Jan Zelezny, 8-5.
In Flight B Singles, UNM freshman Derek Lynch fell in the finals, 6-4, 6-2, to Northern Arizona’s Brian Grooms, making it the second consecutive year UNM has not claimed one title at the Balloon Fiesta.
The Lobos return to action at the ITA Fall Mountain Regional in Las Vegas, Nev. Oct. 20-24.
