Herrera Called up to U.S. U-20 National Team Camp

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Aaron Herrera, fresh off a solid 2015 freshman campaign for the University of New Mexico men’s soccer team, has been called up to the U.S. U-20 National Team Camp in Miami. Herrera is one of just 36 players invited to the camp, and this group of players will eventually try and qualify for the 2017 U-20 World Cup, which will be held in South Korea.
The squad will split on Jan. 8 to play matches against CASA, a local all-star team, and Weston FC of the NPSL. The U-20 team will also play games on Jan. 12 against still to be determined opponents.
A native of Las Cruces, N.M., Herrera was called up to the U-20 squad last season as well for a series of friendlies in Germany. He made 15 appearances for UNM last season, including 14 starts, and was second among freshmen in minutes played with 1,332.
