JUNIOR YEAR (2017): Led the team in ERA with a 3.60 … made 24 appearances … recorded 31 strikeouts … led the team with four saves.
SOPHOMORE YEAR (2016): Appeared in 24 games for the Lobos … finished with a 3-4 record with an ERA of 5.47 … recorded 16 strikeouts in 39.2 innings pitched … led the team in saves with six … Broke her own single-season and career save record with six and 11 respectively … Her best outing of the year came on March 26 against Utah State where she pitched seven innings and did not allow a run in the 4-0 win over the Aggies … Mountain West Academic All-Conference.
FRESHMAN YEAR (2015): Started 8 games and made 38 appearances for the Lobos in the circle or as a designated hitter … finished the season with a 9-5 record and five saves which broke UNM’s record for saves… picked up wins against Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Utah State, UNLV, Nevada, San Diego State, and Boise State … pitched 92 innings on the season … recorded 58 strikeouts … finished the season with 4 putouts, 11 assists, and no errors for a 1.000 fielding percentage.
NEW MEXICO: Did not play in 2014 but did attend UNM.
High School: A 2013 graduate of Piedra Vista High School in Farmington, N.M….three-year letterwinner….played under coach Kevin Werth…three-time District 4A champions (2011-13)…earned all-state honors in both her junior and senior seasons, along with First Team All-District honors…Led her team to a state record tying and record breaking seventh and eighth consecutive class 4A State Championships…pitched every inning of every game during both state championship runs…three-time All-District All-Academic team selection…finished her career as a Panther with a 48-12 record with a 1.31 earned run average…fanned 339 batters her junior and senior seasons…Ace Award recipient for her team in her junior and senior seasons…as a junior, Fortner was also a catalyst in community service for her team throughout her career by volunteering many hours helping with Special Olympics, Blue Star Mothers and other local organizations…selected as a U-MATTR ambassador for the San Juan county.
