ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will celebrate Senior Night on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit as they take on the Fresno State Bulldogs in a battle for third place in the Mountain West Standings. The game will air live on ESPN3.
Both teams enter the game 11-6 in conference play, tied for third in the league. The Lobos are 16-14 on the season while the Bulldogs are 21-9 overall. UNM is riding a four-win streak while Fresno State enters Saturday night 6-1 over its last seven contests.
Over the last two weeks, the Lobos have made history – as a team and individually. UNM scored 119 points at Wyoming followed by 108 points at Colorado State to register the first back-to-back road games scoring over 100 points in program history. Adding the new milestone to UNM’s record-breaking 335 three-pointers in a single season.
The Lobos have also broken the records for most 3-pointers attempted in a conference game (36 vs San José State), most 3-pointers attempted in a season (894), most 3-pointers scored in a conference season (192) and most 3-pointers attempted in a conference season (486).
In addition, junior Anthony Mathis broke the 16-year old program record for most 3-pointers in a conference season by an individual against Colorado State. He now posts 61, breaking the record-59 set by Marlow White in 1993-94 and tied by Ruben Douglas in 2002-03.
Freshman Makuach Maluach continues to make his way up the list of highest-scoring freshmen in Lobo history, he’s netted 303 points to rank tied for ninth all-time.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lobos lead the all-time series between the squads 15-12 dating back to Dec. 29, 1947. While the Lobos hold a 10-1 advantage at home in The Pit, Fresno State has claimed the last three straight wins, including in the quarterfinals of last year’s Mountain West Tournament when the Bulldogs knocked out the Lobos 65-60.
In their last meeting on Jan. 13 in Fresno earlier this season, the contest was much closer than the score appears. Freshman Makuach Maluach and junior Anthony Mathis posted career-high scoring totals and UNM blasted back from a 14-point deficit to trail by just two at the half and even got ahead by five with 10:14 left in the second half. The score was tied 11 times and the lead changed nine times en route to the 89-80 final in favor of the home team.
THE COACHES
UNM head coach Paul Weir enters the game 16-14 in his first season at the helm of the Lobos, 44-20 in his career. Seventh-year head coach of Fresno State, Rodney Terry, enters the game 21-9 on the season and 126-106 in his career.
