ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will host UNLV in a special Sunday contest at Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit on Feb. 25. Tipoff will be at 12 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. The squads are currently back-to-back in the Mountain West standings with the Lobos in fourth place and UNLV tied for fifth.

The Runnin’ Rebels (19-9, 9-6 MW) will be out for vengeance after the Lobos (14-14, 9-6 MW) earned an 85-81 victory on the road earlier this season. UNM was down by 11 with 6:48 left in the game before executing a successful comeback and escaping with a four-point victory. The game also marked the Lobos’ first road victory of the season.

UNM has won its last two games including a 119-114 win over Wyoming, claiming the first Lobo victory in Laramie since 2014. The Lobos also broke the record for most points scored by an opponent in Arena-Auditorium.

Speaking of breaking records, the Lobos broke the all-time record for most 3-pointers in a season on Tuesday in Laramie. The previous record was 301 set in 1997-98 and the Lobos have now scored 314. In addition, UNM broke the record for most points scored in a conference game (previously 113 in 1978) and the teams together broke the record for most points scored by both teams in UNM history. The previous record was 209 in 2017.

UNLV enters Sunday’s game coming off of a pair of losses at San Diego State and against Fresno State on the road. Prior to the two losses, UNLV was 5-1 over their last six games.
